Our mission statement is one way of saying it. But in Matthew 28, Jesus says it another way when he gives us his Great Commission. We believe that Jesus’ Great Commission is our mission.
18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
In short, our task is to make worshipers of Jesus Christ from every nation, tribe, people, and language (Revelation 7:9)!
So we believe mission involves both evangelism and church planting. Or to put it another way, mission is about explicit gospel proclamation because it is through the gospel that God saves us and it is through the gospel that God is transforming us.
